Description
Our organic mulberries are pale beige to dark beige, satisfyingly soft and large (depending on the harvest). They are very sweet in taste and have a fruity tang. There are just a very few broken pieces, as the mulberries are dried gently and handled with care. The light colour can also be retained longer by storing between +2 und +6 degrees Celsius. Origin and Production: We source our organic mulberries exclusively from Uzbekistan. Large parts of the region are certified for organic products, and are cultivated by the farmers living there. The farmers are a part of a large community made up of 3 groups, Dustkul Bogi, Turkiston Gulba and Turob Bobo. 1,000 farmers and their families belong to the community. Currently there are no standards covering international FAIRTRADE certification for mulberries. The mulberries comply with the usual Fairtrade requirements, but cannot bear the logo. The Fairtrade famers do not receive an extra bonus for the additional work they do. The Fairtrade concept has transform second nature and is part of life, although the monetary rewards are less. Our mulberries are harvested by hand when the berries are fully ripe. After harvesting, they are carefully washed and gently dried the usage of solar energy. The drying process is very eco-friendly, the usage of a solar drying method that has a minimal affect on the product. The mulberries are pressure treated and laser cleaned in Austria. All the way through the pressure process, the combination of pressure and time ensures that the product is completely free of pests. When undergoing several rounds of cleansing in the laser cleaning facility afterwards, the organic mulberries are checked individually to ensure they contain no impurities.
